Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a Specialist, Special Accounts II, you will play a critical role in supporting retail members facing complex or high-risk financial situations. You will assess member financial positions, recommend tailored recovery solutions, and collaborate with internal and external partners to minimize loss while delivering compassionate, member-first experience. This role is ideal for a skilled financial professional who thrives in problem-solving, negotiation, and risk management while maintaining strong member relationships.

This is a full-time, temporary role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Team Manager, Special Accounts This position will be a combination of hybrid and in-office work, in addition to on-site events and additional business needs.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Assessing retail members’ financial situations to provide sound advice and support aligned with service and quality standards
  • Reviewing member profiles and identifying optimal recovery strategies including restructuring, payment arrangements, and other solutions
  • Negotiating repayment plans to achieve the best possible outcomes for members while minimizing organizational risk
  • Partnering with internal and external stakeholders such as legal professionals, realtors, and financial partners to resolve accounts
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant member files in accordance with established guidelines
  • Applying policies, procedures, and risk frameworks to support decision-making and escalate complex issues when needed
  • Providing specialized advice and guidance to support member solutions and internal stakeholders
  • Contributing to risk mitigation efforts by identifying discrepancies, trends, and potential areas of loss

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Post-secondary education or diploma in Business Administration or a related field
  • 1-3+ years of experience in lending, collections, risk management, or financial services
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial information, detect anomalies, and resolve discrepancies
  • Solid business acumen within the financial services industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide specialized advice and support
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to apply policies and escalate when required
  • Knowledge of financial products, lending practices, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality

What You’ll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $55,300 to $71,500 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
