Role and Team

Job Title

Reservoir Engineer Specialist

The Reservoir Engineer Specialist is responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and application of integrated static and dynamic reservoir simulation models to support field development decisions and ensure alignment with company governance requirements.

Core Role Scope

• Develop fit-for-purpose, history-matched dynamic simulation models.

• Integrate multi-disciplinary data (geology, petrophysics, PVT, SCAL, pressure, production data) to ensure physics-consistent modelling.

• Support field development optimization (FDP), well placement, and production forecasting.

• Deliver decision-ready technical outputs for endorsement, including scenarios, sensitivities, and uncertainties.

• Act as a technical focal point for simulation-related deliverables in governance meetings and workshops.

• Support management framework and continuous model updates using new data.

• Adhere to company policies, systems, processes, and procedures.

Key Challenges

A. Technical Challenges

• Achieving robust history match across multiple data domains.

• Handling uncertainty in STOIIP and reservoir behaviour.

• Integration complexity across seismic, SCAL, logs, and pressure datasets.

• Model readiness versus project timelines.

B. Governance & Stakeholder Challenges

• Ensure all model outputs are defensible, auditable, and technically justified.

• Support continuous updates, re-runs, and scenario testing.

• Align multiple stakeholders across field development, production engineering, geology, and upstream teams.

C. Business & Delivery Challenges

• Balance model complexity with practicality.

• Support FDP optimization targets and production sustainability.

• Manage multiple parallel deliverables, workshops, committees, and support requests.

Key Success Factors

• High-quality history matching and predictive capability.

• Strong understanding of reservoir physics, SCAL, and uncertainty workflows.

• Ability to translate complex subsurface behaviour into clear outputs.

B. Integration & Collaboration

• Coordinate effectively with geology, petrophysics, SCAL, and production teams.

• Ensure integration across static, dynamic, and development workflows.

C. Engagement & Governance

• Deliver clear and defensible technical presentations.

• Prepare pre-validated scenarios.

• Ensure alignment with Integrated Reservoir Management and audit requirements.

D. Delivery & Ownership

• Own the model lifecycle from build through updates and application.

• Prioritize under pressure and manage multiple requests.

• Maintain responsiveness to urgent simulation requirements.

E. Decision Impact

• Production forecasting.

• Development scenarios.

• Risk and uncertainty ranges.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

Comply with applicable HSE policies, procedures, controls, legislation, sustainability guidelines, international standards, best practices, and company codes of practice.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

Implement approved department policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures in line with company and international standards.

What is the person expected to deliver in the first 6 to 12 months
