Registration Specialist I – Neuroscience Center

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Location: Neuroscience Center

The Registration Specialist I facilitates patient flow from point of entry through the care experience in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. This role ensures the collection of accurate demographic and financial information to support reimbursement, patient care, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to or at time of service
  • Obtain and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information into appropriate systems
  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up visits
  • Explain charges, policies, and procedures to patients as needed
  • Collect co-pays and other required payments
  • Answer incoming calls and route patients/visitors appropriately
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service in all interactions

Performance Benchmarks

  • 3 Months: Independently perform patient check-out
  • 6 Months: Demonstrate full understanding of systems and independently register patients
  • 12 Months: Fully proficient in role and able to identify process improvement opportunities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or administrative setting preferred
  • Basic knowledge or ability to learn:
    • Medical terminology
    • Insurance verification processes
    • ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
  • Ability to interpret insurance information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
