Job Description

Role: Registration Specialist – Urology
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Onsite)

Facilitates patient flow from point of entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Responsible for obtaining and entering demographic and financial information to ensure accurate records, appropriate reimbursement, and a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient check-in and check-out
  • Collect co-pays and process payments
  • Guide patients through registration and next steps
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient visits
  • Verify and update demographic and insurance information
  • Utilize RightFax and other systems for documentation and communication
  • Answer incoming calls and direct patients/visitors appropriately
  • Collaborate with both local and statewide teams

Training & Onboarding

  • Cerner training (approximately 7 days)
  • 6 weeks of “elbow-to-elbow” training with a mentor

Benchmarks for Success

  • 3 Months: Independently managing check-in/check-out; building knowledge of insurance processes
  • 6 Months: Working independently with confidence; proactively asking questions
  • 12 Months: Fully independent; able to serve as a resource to others and explore career ladder opportunities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA preferred
  • 1–2 years of healthcare or related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance, and clinical workflows preferred
  • Exposure to ICD-10 and CPT coding is a plus
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
