Job title – Specialist, R&D Romer Labs

Location – Gelugor, Penang

The Specialist R&D Romer Labs is responsible for conducting lab experiments to achieve project goals.

Your key responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory experiments to achieve the objectives of the project
• Record experimental results, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to facilitate effective data management and maintain consistent communication with superior/stakeholders
• Perform maintenance and initiate repairs on equipment in accordance with the maintenance database, adhering to manuals and instructions to ensure optimal functionality
• Immediately report all observed deviations from internal standard operating procedures, Romer Labs Manual and international standards
• Support performance of internal and external audits, timely processing and closure of defined non-conformities and recommendations in own department
• Assist in procurement/maintenance of SHE-relevant materials and equipment, and improvement of SHE topics in own area(s) of responsibility

You bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply; relevant internship or academic research experience in laboratory or R&D settings will be an advantage
• Knowledge of microbiological methods, immunoassays, or molecular techniques is a plus
• Hands-on experience working in laboratory environments with familiarity in method validation, data analysis, and documentation practices
• Good understanding of food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality systems (e.g., ISO, GMP, HACCP)
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional teams
