Job Description

Partners across Universal Kids Resort’s Technical Services teams on reconciling all supporting documentation of Ride Vehicles annual and cycle-based frequency Inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) performed in accordance with OEM manuals, Service Bulletins and directives from engineering teams – whether internal or third-party vendors – to maintain full compliance with applicable standards and requirements. Responsible for coordinating all NDT inspections across UKR’s attractions, shows and water play areas. Performs technical functions and interfaces with the Central Services and Ride & Show teams. Coordinates the procurement for supplies, tools, and materials for quality control initiatives. Tracks all aspects for various assigned projects, providing information and support to all departments needed to assist in their inspection activities. Communicates, coordinates, creates scopes of work for inspections and testing performed by 3rd party vendors as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly partners with Ride & Show Coordinators and Central Services management on reconciling all supporting documentation for the ride vehicles (RV’s) annual and cycle-based frequency inspections and NDTs in accordance with OEM manuals, Service Bulletins and directives from engineering teams—whether internal or third-party to ensure compliance with all governing internal and industry standards. Tracks all action items and ensures all issues are resolved ahead of RV’s moving forward in the next steps of the process. Partners with Coordinators and Leads on compiling any consumable documentation for parts and components replaced, scrapping of parts and components that have been deemed to be scrapped in accordance with Engineering dispositions to an internal SOP. Aids in the scheduling of all QC inspections and Inspection request board items for UKR attractions, shows and water play areas. Maintains required certifications to be able to perform NDT inspections as a level II in VT/MT & PT methods.
  • Performs Technical writing functions to create detailed scopes of work (SOP’s), written procedures, QC/NDT Job Plans & PM’s to be uploaded into the Maximo System (CMMS). Tracks documentation including Job Plans, QC reports, QC backlog items, ECNs, DCNs, TD’s and Service bulletins (operation and maintenance) releases through the directives from engineering teams—whether internal or third-party. Supports audits of current QC job plans and PMs to ensure compliance to the latest OEM releases, SB’s, MB’s and TD’s and tracks all action items. Writes and reviews work procedures in accordance with OEM manuals, directives from engineering teams—whether internal or third-party, QC, OSHA, ASTM, and Standard Amusement Park Practices.
  • Partners across Technical Services on approved budgets to ensure material, resources and estimated time needed to successfully complete all Quality Control inspections and NDT responsibilities, equipment and consumables required to conduct day to day business. Procures necessary products and services for projects and work performed by 3rd party services that may be required. Creates purchase requests in Maximo following Universal policies and procedures. Purchases and maintains accurate inventories of company tools, software and hardware bought and assigned across Ride & Show. Assures proper required safety equipment (PPE), tools, are purchased and maintained for all department personnel. Assists with coordinating calibration requirements on all precision equipment and assures other support equipment is readily available.
  • Assists Ride & Show Management in partnership with internal or third-party engineering teams in reviewing, processing Engineering Dispositions, ECN’s, DCN’s, Bulletins, logs, etc. Assists with annual state required attraction affidavit process, runs Maximo reports to ensure all annual NDT inspections have been completed and compile backlog list to current open items to be resolved ahead of the due dates.
  • Performs miscellaneous administrative duties such as generating detailed Excel spreadsheets and queries to provide information and data as required. Documents and displaying information for review of PMs, tracks compliance reports, and gathers other information as needed. Provides tracking of all correspondence between Ride & Show, 3rd party vendors and internal engineering for back-up documentation.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.

  • Strong organizational and computer skills, ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience writing technical documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of all ride and show attraction equipment.
  • Must have analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as business dictates.

  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • Required certifications to perform NDT inspections as a Level II – VT, MT and PT.

EDUCATION:

  • Technical school or Associate’s degree (AA) in General Studies, Technology or related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in theme park, ride and show, maintenance or technical-related environment is required, experience within a seasonal or regional theme park is a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
