SPECIALIST PROJECT MANAGER

Location: Cape Town (Hybrid)
Industry: Enterprise Technology / Software Engineering

A leading technology-driven organisation is seeking an experienced Specialist Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex enterprise application and software development projects within a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

This is a senior-level delivery role suited to a highly organised and strategic project professional with extensive experience managing multi-stream technology projects, stakeholder engagement, governance, and enterprise delivery frameworks.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for leading large-scale enterprise application and software engineering projects from initiation through to deployment and operational handover.

The role requires strong delivery leadership, governance capability, stakeholder management, and the ability to manage complex multi-workstream programmes across business and technical teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Delivery


  • Defining project scope, timelines, objectives, deliverables, and resource plans

  • Managing full end-to-end project delivery across:

    • Design

    • Build

    • Testing

    • Deployment

  • Driving execution across multiple workstreams and cross-functional teams

  • Managing project schedules, dependencies, milestones, and deliverables

  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to business objectives

Governance & Reporting


  • Maintaining governance standards and delivery oversight across projects

  • Producing executive-level reporting, dashboards, and governance packs

  • Managing RAID logs and project documentation

  • Leading steering committee meetings, governance forums, and stakeholder engagements

  • Ensuring alignment with PMO frameworks and enterprise delivery standards

Stakeholder & Vendor Management


  • Managing relationships with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and executive sponsors

  • Facilitating workshops, planning sessions, and project governance discussions

  • Driving alignment between business objectives and technical delivery outcomes

  • Managing stakeholder expectations, escalations, and decision-making processes

Risk, Change & Quality Management


  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and delivery issues

  • Managing scope changes and change control processes

  • Ensuring quality assurance and validation processes are followed

  • Supporting issue resolution and proactive delivery management

Budget & Resource Management


  • Managing project budgets, financial tracking, and forecasting

  • Monitoring resource allocation and utilisation across delivery streams

  • Managing vendor coordination and delivery dependencies

  • Escalating deviations and risks proactively

Project Closure & Operational Handover


  • Ensuring successful transition to operations and support teams

  • Conducting lessons learned and project close-out activities

  • Maintaining complete and accurate project documentation

  • Supporting benefit realisation and delivery optimisation initiatives

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Key Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in:

    • Information Technology

    • Computer Science

    • Business Administration

    • Engineering

    • Or related field

  • Minimum 10 years' project management experience

  • Proven experience managing:

    • Multi-phase delivery cycles

    • Multi-stream projects

    • Cross-functional technology initiatives

  • Strong experience within:

    • Enterprise applications

    • Software engineering environments

    • ERP/CRM project delivery

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Agile

    • Waterfall

    • Hybrid delivery methodologies

  • Experience using:

    • Microsoft Project

    • Azure DevOps

    • Project Operations tools

  • Strong governance, reporting, budgeting, and stakeholder management capability

Advantageous Skills


  • PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM, or related project management certifications

  • Exposure to Dynamics 365, ERP, or Power Platform environments

  • Experience within enterprise PMO environments

  • Experience managing vendors and external delivery partners
