Major Duties :

  • Leads others to solve complex problems
  • Manages a business continuity or disaster recovery program for Global Procurement. Oversees, plans, and manages activities for the business continuity or disaster recovery function and units, ensuring that the business objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Leads, tracks and documents the annual risk and controls self-assessment program for all global procurement controls in scope.
  • Indirectly manages and liaises with domestic and international business continuity or disaster recovery coordinators throughout the procurement organization
  • Participates in the development of long-range business continuity and disaster recovery plans for in scope procurement activities.
  • Coordinates and executes the testing of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, recommends and follows up on business unit implementation of changes to the plans as appropriate.
  • Consults with internal partners to identify critical business functions in order of priority or application/system tier level that must be restored in event of a disruption
  • Keeps abreast of current legal requirements in order to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and interprets those mandates for management and staff.
  • Represents Global Procurement and provides leadership of various business continuity and disaster recovery related steering committees in conjunction with the senior management of Global Procurement.
  • Consults with internal partners on business continuity and disaster recovery processes assuring consistency with industry best practices.
  • Serves as the Point of Contact to the various committees and steer groups across the organization.


Knowledge :

  • Knowledge of the corporate business strategy development is necessary to effectively manage the business continuity and disaster recovery units.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and business resumption planning usually acquired through related experience is critical to coordinating the planning and recovery processes.
  • • Knowledge of communication and systems technologies usually acquired through formal education or previous experience is required for understanding how technologies function so that they can be adequately tested.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to manage the activities for the respective units.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary to determine the unit goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of the staff.

  • Self-management (adaptability and resilience, learning behavior, integrity and ethics)
  • Client Service and Quality (quality, relationship building and client satisfaction)


Experience :

  • University degree or equivalent experience required, with 7+ years of total experience in the financial services industry preferred
  • May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity

Salary Range:

$114,700 - 194,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
