Purpose of the Role

Own the technical process for Electrode operations Feeding/Mixing, Slot Die coating, and Calendaring on the Pilot Line. Develop, validate, and standardize process parameters for each chemistry (e.g., LFP, NMC, or other emerging chemistries), and lead DOE studies to define robust process windows ahead of scale-up to mass production. Act as the technical bridge between R&D, Quality, and Production during chemistry changeovers and NPI trials translating formulation/design inputs into executable process specifications and control plans and troubleshooting process deviations using engineering root-cause methods. Ensure process data is captured accurately in MES/SAP to support Cpk/SPC analysis and CAPA closure.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Develop and own process parameters (slurry viscosity/rheology, mixing time, coating weight, coating speed, calendaring pressure/gap) for each chemistry run on the Electrode Pilot Line.
• Design and execute DOE studies to establish and validate process windows for new chemistries, materials, or equipment settings; analyze results and issue updated process specifications.
• Author and maintain Process Control Plans, PFMEA, and process specifications/SOPs for the Electrode Pilot Line, updating them for every chemistry changeover.
• Lead first-article/first-off process validation for new chemistry or material introductions before handing over to Production for trial builds.

Knowledge Generic

• 5–10 years of process engineering experience in Li-ion cell, EV battery pack, or solar cell manufacturing, with hands-on ownership of process development, NPI, or multi-chemistry changeover work
• Deep technical knowledge of Feeding/Mixing, Slot Die coating, and Calendaring, and how parameters shift across chemistries into process specifications
• Strong grounding in DOE, Six Sigma, and process control (PFMEA, Control Plans, Cpk/SPC); skilled across problem-solving tools (8D, 7 QC, 5-Why, Fishbone)
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949, SAP/ERP, and MES for process and quality data analysis
• Proven cross-functional coordination with R&D, Quality, and Production to convert chemistry/product requirements into a validated, repeatable process

Job Context

• Support qualification of new electrode formulations and process parameters ahead of scale-up; document changeover process windows, learnings, and risks for technology transfer to the Gigafactory line.
• Coordinate with R&D to translate new chemistry/formulation requirements into achievable, repeatable Pilot Line process settings.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers/OEMs on process-related equipment capability, calibration, and upgrades needed to support new chemistries.
• Analyze process capability (Cpk), SPC trends, and NG/defect data captured in MES/SAP to identify process drift and drive corrective action.
• Lead technical root-cause investigations for process-related exceptions and NG products, using 8D, Six Sigma, 7 QC Tools, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and FMEA; verify CAPA effectiveness.
