Job Description

Manages and administers the Operational Technology (OT) network infrastructure —including Layer2/Layer 3 devices, transport circuits, and centralized management platforms— to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant network operations supporting Telecom Operations and field response.

  • Monitors and administers Layer 2/Layer 3 OT network devices, IP routing, switching, and MPLS-based router and switch aggregation/access layer configurations, performing advanced remote diagnostics and troubleshooting to maintain network integrity, reliable performance, and service availability.

  • Provisions, documents, and maintains lifecycle and version control of configurations for routers, switches, firewalls, SONET/TDM transport circuits, and IoT 4G equipment commissioning — including administration of the centralized configuration repository and backup systems — to ensure accurate, secure, and audit-ready OT network records in compliance with organizational policy, cybersecurity, and change management standards.

  • Performs logical network provisioning and reroutes OT communication during planned maintenance or incidents, providing real-time visibility into network status and alarms to field teams to minimize service disruption and enable faster on-site resolution.

  • Maintains the availability, performance, and cybersecurity of centralized management platforms (configuration storage, software distribution, monitoring, device management) to ensure consistent, compliant, and secure system operation supporting Telecom Operations.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams on proof-of-concept testing, technology evaluations, and integration activities to ensure new OT communication technologies meet compliance standards and integrate effectively into existing network infrastructure.

  • Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.

  • Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.

  • Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Additional Job Description:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, telecommunications, electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical field.

Experience

  • 5 years’ of experience supporting network or telecom transport systems, or OT/ICS network administration.

  • Experience supporting utility communication networks such as WAN, FAN, LAN, SCADA, tele-protection, or substations networks.

  • Hands‑on experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting routers, switches, MPLS networks, microwave radio systems, and RF communication equipment is preferred.

  • Experience in utility or critical infrastructure environments with emergency response or storm restoration efforts is preferred.

Additional experience may substitute for required education when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of experience performing similar functions and at least 3 years of experience performing an OT Network Technician (or equivalent OT/telecom network support) role.

  • OT Network Expertise Deep knowledge of OT network infrastructure, routing, switching, and transport technologies to ensure stable and reliable network performance.

  • Configuration and Change Management: Ability to oversee configuration lifecycle processes, ensure version control, and maintain compliance with cybersecurity and change‑management standards.

  • Diagnostic Problem-Solving Diagnoses and resolves complex network connectivity and performance issues under time-sensitive, operationally critical conditions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Partners effectively across engineering, cybersecurity and field operations teams during technology evaluation and integration work.

  • Operational Communication & Responsiveness: Communicates real-time network conditions clearly to field teams in support of fast, informed incident response
