Job Description
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Specialist Ophthalmologist to join a leading healthcare facility in the UAE. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions, and perform appropriate ophthalmic procedures while maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic consultations and eye examinations.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of ocular and visual disorders.
- Manage conditions including cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinal disorders, corneal diseases, dry eye, and other ophthalmic conditions.
- Perform ophthalmic procedures and surgeries within the scope of clinical expertise.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and provide post-operative follow-up.
- Perform and interpret ophthalmic investigations including OCT, visual field testing, tonometry, fundus examination, and ocular imaging.
- Manage ophthalmic emergencies and provide appropriate treatment.
- Prescribe medications, corrective lenses, and other appropriate treatments.
- Counsel patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, preventive eye care, and surgical procedures.
- Refer complex cases to appropriate ophthalmic subspecialists when required.
- Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
- Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- MD / MS / DNB / FRCS / Arab Board or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology.
- Minimum 3 years of post-specialization experience as a Specialist Ophthalmologist.
- Strong experience in general ophthalmology.
- Surgical experience is preferred, depending on the position.
- Excellent clinical judgment, diagnostic, communication, and patient-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
