Your Job

As a Specialist, IT Support, you will serve as the site-level owner and steward of digital manufacturing systems for Molex Malaysia. In this role, you will ensure effective integration between operational technology (OT) and enterprise IT platforms in an advanced, automation-intensive manufacturing environment, supporting the performance, security, and scalability of robotics, molding, stamping, plating, optical manufacturing, ERP/MES/SCADA, and data & analytics platforms aligned to Molex’s global technology direction.

Our Team

You will support Molex Malaysia’s manufacturing site in Kawasan Perindustrian Prai, which manufactures and trades high-speed connectors for the Data, Audio & Video, Computer, and Power Supply industries. The site features advanced robotics, high-speed injection molding, stamping, plating, and automated assembly.

This role works closely with site Operations, Engineering/Automation, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, and Finance, while partnering with regional and global Enterprise IT, Cybersecurity, Digital/Analytics, Architecture, and Compliance teams.

What You Will Do

  • Align technology roadmaps with Corporate Infrastructure and Manufacturing Operations to help achieve throughput, quality, and cost targets.

  • Translate manufacturing needs into actionable digital requirements, working with corporate IT, automation teams, and vendors to deliver solutions that improve reliability, visibility, and scalability.

  • Ensure all site IT/OT requests aresubmittedthrough the global intake workflow and meet intake standards.

  • Evaluate and prioritize requests based on strategic alignment, architecture fit, cost/value, urgency, compliance, and resource impact.

  • Proactively engage site stakeholders, including Engineering and Quality, to ensure standardized request submission and protect project timelines.

  • Leverage global steering and prioritization forums to secure funding, align priorities, and provide transparency on site demand and project status.

  • Operate and optimize site IT/OT infrastructure, including site networks, on-premises and cloud compute, identity and access systems, endpoints, datacenter assets, and plant-floor OT devices such as PLCs, HMIs,IIoTgateways, and historians.

  • Support andmaintaincore manufacturing applications, including MES, SCADA, Batch Execution Systems, and Quality Management Systems (QMS), to support continuous line availability.

  • Manage application lifecycles, upgrades, and patch management while ensuring scheduled downtime windows, change control compliance, minimal operational disruption, and legacy software validation.

  • Maintain current architecture diagrams, IP schemes, asset inventories, runbooks, and SOPs to enable fast recovery and consistent operations.

  • Implement and enforce secure remote access, segmentation between IT and OT, application-level RBAC, and endpoint hardening standards in partnership with corporate IT and cybersecurity teams.

  • Drive incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis (RCA) for plant outages, data pipeline failures, and middleware/API integration drops between OT systems and enterprise IT.

  • Lead capacity planning and lifecycle management by forecasting resource needs, planning hardware/software refreshes, coordinating procurement, and managing warranties and licenses.

  • Protect intellectual property and supplier data by applying site cybersecurity controls, secure configuration baselines, and credential/certificate management.

  • Maintain, test, andvalidatedisaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical digital assets; ensure backups and restore proceduresremaincurrent.

  • Serve as thesiteliaison to Corporate Cybersecurity for vulnerability remediation, incident response, and compliance audits.

  • Support site compliance for audit certification and alignment with global and division standards.

  • Coordinate audit readiness, evidence, and corrective actions with Corporate IT, Cybersecurity, Quality, and Compliance teams.

  • Ensure business continuity, backup, andrecoveryreadiness, and lead rapid response for technology incidents or audit gaps.

  • Manage vendor relationships for support, maintenance, licensing, and professional services; coordinate onsite vendor activities to minimize production impact.

  • Create andsubmitpurchase requests (PRs) for generic IT requirements, ensuringaccuratescope, cost justification, and alignment with approved budgets; coordinate with Purchasing/Procurement to supporttimelypurchase order (PO) release.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, ora related field

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably supporting electronics, optics, automation, or advanced manufacturing operations.

  • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, including networks, cloud/on-premises environments, identity platforms, endpoints, and related operational systems.

  • Working knowledge of OT and manufacturing systems such as PLC, SCADA, MES, data platforms, ETL, and IT/OT cybersecurity practices.

  • Ability to work with plant, regional, and global stakeholders withstrong communication, vendor management, change leadership, and execution skills.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Exposure torobotics, alignment/vision systems, AOI, metrology, or integration of precision equipment into MES, SCADA, or data lake environments.

  • Experience with Cisco networking, VMware virtualization, Ignition,Opcenter(MES), or AI tools.

  • Experience managing IT/OT incident response, RCA, lifecycle planning, or digital manufacturing roadmaps in a high-growth manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to travel regionally for IT meetings, cross-site support, vendor engagement, and best-practice sharing.

  • Chinese language capability in addition to English.
