About the role

This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 1 day on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

ATB Investment Management Inc. (“ATBIM”) is seeking an experienced individual to join our Fund Operations team. As a Specialist, Investment Operations, you will play a key role in the day-to-day fund operations, and support ongoing strategic initiatives. This role provides administrative and analytical support to a variety of internal partners including portfolio management teams, compliance, risk, and finance, and engages with external vendors including the fund transfer agent and custodian.

This role is hybrid and can be based out of Calgary, Edmonton, or Toronto.

Accountabilities

  • Operational contact, actively engaging with client service teams and fund company service providers (transfer agent, custodian) in following up or advising on daily operations matters, escalating issues as needed, collaborating and maintaining visibility into ongoing projects, and keeps abreast of all changes while anticipating impacts.
  • Investigates and resolves process related issues and exception processing, ensuring departmental guidelines are adhered to
  • Provides support for complex or unique unitholder and investment transactions (e.g., wire transfers, holdings reconciliations, dilution tracking, short term trading monitoring)
  • Proactively engage with fund management teams, data teams, and external partners to provide validated reporting to meet internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Identifies requirements (e.g., from regulatory or business changes) and implements process and efficiency improvements for front-end and back-end processes (e.g., trading, regulatory reporting and documentation, etc.)
  • Support post-trade and settlement activities
  • Identify opportunities to create efficiencies, and to elevate controls and operational effectiveness
  • Produce and maintain well-organized documentation for operational processes
  • Represents Operations on a variety of strategic initiatives and projects, supporting future product development, as well as the implementation of tools and technology that enhance our investment management capabilities

Skills, experience & requirements

  • Prior Operations experience with an Investment Fund Manager, ideally 5+ years
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial industry operations including mutual fund administration, broker dealer back offices and transfer agent and custody relationships
  • University degree (Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance) or equivalent work experience
  • Investment industry courses (i.e. Canadian Securities Course, IFIC, Investment Funds Operations, etc.)
  • Capable of working under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to organize, multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Proficiency in investment management software and unitholder and custodial systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate operational information to a variety of audiences
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic that takes initiative and ownership, and seeks out clarification and guidance as needed
  • Experience with Google Suite and MS Excel, Tableau dashboard creation and SQL considered an asset

Salary Range

$95,000 - $105,000
