Introduction
The Aga Khan University’s Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU, University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure, whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute.
The IGHD works across four thematic areas, including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change, Urban Development, and Health, and; Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition.

This a grant funded contractual position.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible to supervise project activities related to field and data management to ensure quality control, while maintaining good working relationship with staff, community and various stakeholders involved. Specific responsibilities will be to:
- Coordinate data collection, storage, organization, and management activities across multiple research projects;
- develop and maintain data management plans, standard operating procedures, documentation standards, and quality assurance protocols;
- clean, validate, harmonize, transform, and prepare datasets for analysis and reporting;
- manage and maintain research databases, data repositories, digital platforms, and data-sharing systems;
- support statistical, analytical, and geospatial data processing activities using appropriate software and tools;
- sssist in integrating datasets from multiple sources, including environmental monitoring systems, wearable devices, surveys, administrative records, meteorological datasets, and publicly available data repositories;
- support the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of external datasets required for research activities;
- monitor data quality and identify inconsistencies, missing values, and processing issues, implementing corrective actions where necessary;
- generate routine and ad hoc reports, dashboards, visualizations, and analytical summaries for investigators, collaborators, donors, and other stakeholders;
- support researchers in data extraction, analysis, interpretation, and preparation of research outputs;
- maintain metadata, version control, and documentation to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and traceability of analytical workflows;
- ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures related to data governance, confidentiality, information security, and research ethics;
- coordinate with internal and external partners regarding data acquisition, exchange, management, and reporting activities;
- provide technical support and guidance to project staff on data-related tools, systems, and processes;
- stay abreast of emerging developments and best practices in data analytics, research data management, environmental data systems, and digital technologies relevant to the laboratory's work;
- contribute to the design and implementation of new data systems, analytical workflows, databases, and digital tools;
- support the preparation of scientific manuscripts, technical reports, conference presentations, policy briefs, and grant applications through data analysis and visualization;
- participate in training workshops and capacity-building activities related to data management, analytics, GIS, remote sensing, and research methods;
- assist in periodic reviews, audits, and assessments of data management practices, data quality standards, and compliance requirements;
- perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor consistent with the requirements of the position.
