We are seeking a passionate and skilled Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to join our Communities for Children initiative, supporting early years services and families to respond safely and effectively to family violence.

The Opportunity

  • Preston office on Wurundjeri Country
  • Part time (0.8FTE), Fixed term role until 30 June 2027 (due to funding)
  • $110K + super and salary packaging (pro rata)
  • Motor Vehicle Allowance up to $10,500 (pro rata)

This role focuses on building the capability of early years services to identify and respond to the impacts of family violence on infants, children and families.

You will:

  • Deliver tailored training and workshops to early years providers
  • Provide secondary consultation and expert advice to professionals
  • Support risk assessment, safety planning, and referral pathways
  • Strengthen collaborative partnerships across local service systems
  • Contribute to community development and program implementation

You’ll balance both capacity building and direct specialist support, helping ensure victim survivors and their children can remain safe, connected and supported within their communities.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is confident, collaborative and deeply committed to trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.

  • Strong facilitation, training and communication skills
  • Experience working with victim survivors of family violence and their children
  • Ability to provide secondary consultation to non-specialist services
  • Knowledge of MARAM and integrated service system responses
  • Understanding of trauma, early childhood development and family violence dynamics
  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships across sectors

A minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work or recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency met through the 7 Equivalency Principles in line with the minimum mandatory qualification requirements.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.
