Sanctuary House is often the first safe place a woman or child has stepped into after leaving violence. This role is about being that steady, compassionate presence who helps them feel safe, supported and believed. As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, you’ll walk alongside victim survivors during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, helping them stabilise, breathe and begin to imagine a safer future.
Sanctuary House provides crisis accommodation and intensive support to women and children experiencing family and domestic violence. In this casual role, you will step in during periods of high demand, staff leave or increased crisis response needs. You’ll provide trauma-informed case management, crisis support and practical assistance to victim survivors who require immediate safety and stabilisation.
You’ll be part of a warm, values-driven team who show up for each other and for the women and children we serve. Every shift matters, whether you’re completing crisis intake, supporting safety planning, advocating with external services or helping someone settle into a safe room for the night.
This casual position is based at Sanctuary House in Fullarton, South Australia. Pay is in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.
Build trusting, respectful relationships that honour dignity, choice and empowerment
Provide crisis response and case management support aligned with TSA’s family violence practice models
Complete ongoing assessments of safety, needs and circumstances from intake to exit
Develop case plans with women that feel achievable, empowering and meaningful
Support women and children to access holistic services, community supports and specialist programs
Advocate confidently with government and non-government agencies to ensure continuity of care
Maintain accurate, timely case notes and data in line with TSA standards
Identify risks early and escalate concerns appropriately to ensure safety
Assist with practical service needs including transport, preparing rooms and supporting group activities
Participate in supervision, debriefing and team collaboration
Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture
Tertiary qualification in social work or a related family violence benchmark qualification
Experience working in the family violence sector (desirable)
Experience in specialist family violence and/or child wellbeing work (highly desirable)
Strong case management capability, including assessment, planning and advocacy
Ability to work autonomously with strong time management and prioritisation skills
Confidence using client information systems, case notes and data management
Warm, trauma-informed practice grounded in dignity, safety and empowerment
Full Driver’s Licence
