The Specialist, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) enables the national coordination and administration of Canada Post’s ED&I programs under the direction of the Manager, ED&I. This coordination is critical in aligning national strategy across regions and corporate functions with a shared mandate to ensure a consistent approach to ED&I and the application of best practice.
This role also provides national level metrics related to ED&I activities through effective reporting and monitoring for the Manager, ED&I to leverage in formulating and deploying policies and programs.
Ultimately, these national efforts will strengthen Corporate Employment Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, to fulfill our vision of attracting, retaining and integrating diverse talent by being the progressive and inclusive workplace of choice.
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Specialist, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion:
1. Coordinates and administers new and existing corporate diversity and inclusion programs working with a variety of national and regional stakeholders in the integration of a variety of HR areas including recruitment strategy, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement and retention. This includes coordinating the expansion of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to promote employee engagement on ED&I issues and communicating ERG concerns and recommendations to the appropriate stakeholders.
2. Operationalizes a consistent national level process for Special Equity Measures approval pertaining to the national and local implementation of HR process exceptions related to ED&I. Administers and reports on Special Equity Measures approval process including review of CLMA representation rates and targets, review of jobs (process, training, onboarding) for systemic barriers and coordinating efforts with internal stakeholders to implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
3. Administers ED&I projects ensuring effective document maintenance, action item follow up and tracking over the project life cycle through implementation to ensure targets are achieved.
4. Measures the effectiveness of corporate diversity initiatives through the tracking and collation of identified performance measures. Provides data to be used for strategic action planning and implementation assessment. Gathers benchmark data and researches ED&I best practices internally and externally, to monitor and report on diversity and inclusion topics for continuous improvement.
5. Establish recruitment partnerships and outreach at key organizations to promote Canada Post to equity seeking groups such as Employment Accessibility Resource Network (EARN), Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET), friendship centres and employment centres. Identifies potential partner organizations within prescribed criteria and determines organization affinity as national point of contact, referring local partnership opportunities to regional HR teams.
6. Monitors and coordinates updates to content on website, social media pages, job postings and internal documents with document/platform owners to ensure a diversity lens is adopted.
7. Obtains necessary approvals and stakeholder review pertaining to internal and external diversity and inclusion communications, in coordination with Corporate and Employee Communications and as drafted by the Manager, ED&I.
8. Maintains the ED&I inbox, responding to, tracking and reporting on employee inquiries.
9. Coordinates the logistics of national ED&I training initiatives in collaboration with Learning and Development.
10. Coordinates the roll-out of ED&I events at Head Office and regionally with local counterparts in support of branding activities such as commemorative days.
11. Administers supplier and vendor contracts owned by the Manager, ED&I, ensuring compliance with Corporate contract policy.
12. Participates in outreach activities including career fairs, hiring halls and recruitment blitzes to support diversity staffing in conjunction with the national Talent Acquisition team.
Education
• Undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required
Experience
• 3 to 5 years of Human Resources experience is required
• Hands-on experience supporting company policies like anti-discrimination and equal employer opportunity is an asset
• Proven, progressive experience and demonstrated effectiveness supporting diversity and inclusion related initiatives and programs is an asset.
• Lived experience as a member of an equity-deserving group(s) is an asset
Other Candidate Requirements
• Knowledge of labor and human rights legislation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
• Project management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in facilitation/ presentation
• Strong, operational, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, be a team player, manage multiple projects and possess a strong knowledge of diversity metrics and analytics.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and interface effectively with all levels of the organization
• Excellent communication skills
• Identifying as Indigenous or person with disability considered an asset
• Proven track record of working with employment equity groups considered an asset
• Experience supporting change management projects is an asset
