In this role, you'll:


Play a key role in strengthening cyber security practices across our complex operational and digital environments. This is an opportunity to act as a trusted advisor, shaping secure-by-design outcomes that support safe, reliable transport services for the people of NSW.

As a Cyber Advisory Specialist, you will provide expert guidance to ensure cyber security is embedded into decision-making, technology delivery, and operational practices.

You will:

  • Act as a trusted cyber advisor, supporting the uplift of secure-by-design practices
  • Ensure alignment with the NSW Government Cyber Security Policy
  • Assess and manage cyber and information security risks across projects and operations
  • Translate cyber security requirements into practical, fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, operations, and project teams to embed security into technology roadmaps and delivery approaches
  • Review vendor solutions, contracts, and third-party engagements to ensure alignment with Transport’s cyber security expectations

This role operates in a hybrid working environment in Macquarie Park, Sydney supporting both flexibility and collaboration.

About you

Experience in cyber security advisory, risk assessment, or security architecture within complex ICT or operational technology environments


Strong working knowledge of recognised frameworks such as:

-ISO 27001
-NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF)
-Essential Eight

Proven ability to deliver practical, risk-based cyber advice that aligns security with business goals and delivery outcomes

Confidence engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, providing trusted guidance beyond technical or compliance silos

Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex cyber risks into clear, actionable insights
