More than 650 students are enrolled in our CSWE-accredited BASW and MSW programs, and PhD program.

This position supports the design, development, and implementation of high-quality programming within the School of Social Work, with primary responsibility for the Social Work Continuing Education Program. This position leads instructional design and curriculum development efforts for asynchronous learning experiences, collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts, and manages learning platforms to ensure accessible, engaging, and competency-based training. The role advances credentialing opportunities and innovative workforce-aligned programming to meet the professional development needs of social work practitioners and human service professionals.

The school supports MSU’s outreach mission through off-campus, distance, and blended instructional programs that utilize technology and innovative teaching strategies. We also provide multiple opportunities for creative interdisciplinary teaching and research, community-based studies, and partnerships with government agencies and neighborhoods.

The Continuing Education Program will work primarily with the Director of Continuing Education (CE) Program. This is a 12-month fixed term annual year (AN) appointment beginning October 2026. Salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The primary functions of this role include:

• Lead instructional design and development for continuing education and non-credit certificate programs.
• Apply adult learning principles and evidence-informed instructional strategies to course design.
• Develop learning objectives, instructional materials, assessments, and engagement strategies aligned with workforce and state training needs.
• Design and develop asynchronous programming and course content.
• Identify, curate, and organize course materials with instructors.
• Develop and manage courses in the D2L learning management system.
• Conduct outreach and collaboration with instructors and subject matter experts.
• Manage end-to-end learner administration within the non-credit registration system, including enrollment support, tracking, completion, and reporting.
• Provide administrative and customer support to learners and instructors, including responding to inquiries, troubleshooting registration issues, and supporting user navigation of systems.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Degree

Masters -Master’s degree in social work, education, instructional design, or a related field.

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work, education, instructional design, or a related field.
• 1-2 years experience, by date of employment
• Experience in adult education which includes curriculum development and instructional design.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Three – five years post Master’s experience preferred.
• Experience working in social work, human services, or related professional training environments.
• Experience with learning management systems.
• Experience designing or supporting online and/or asynchronous learning environments.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and instructors.
