Job Description

The Guitar Center Company is seeking a highly skilled and technically adept Specialist, CRM Marketing to elevate our customer communication strategy for Musicians Friend. This role combines high-volume campaign execution with a forward-thinking approach to automation and personalization using Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC).

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience in batch/bulk email execution, a sharp eye for scalable opportunities, and the technical fluency to evolve manual efforts into automated journeys. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of campaigns today, while designing smarter solutions for tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy batch email and SMS campaigns, ensuring accurate setup, segmentation, creative integration, and QA across devices and platforms.
  • Evaluate high-volume or recurring batch sends to identify candidates for automation, developing logic and data requirements to transition these into scalable lifecycle journeys.
  • Design and manage multi-step customer experiences in Salesforce Marketing Cloud using Journey Builder, Automation Studio, and dynamic content strategies.
  • Leverage AMPscript, personalization logic, and real-time CRM data to tailor content based on behavior, preferences, and lifecycle stage.
  • Collaborate with data and analytics teams to define audience segmentation, configure and manage data extensions, and build SQL queries for precise targeting.
  • Work with marketing and web teams to establish key event tracking or data collection signals that power automated triggers and journey enrollment.
  • Contribute to campaign automation efforts that reduce manual work, improve targeting precision, and speed up deployment timelines.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to more junior team members, offering guidance on personalization scripting, automation strategy, and SFMC best practices.
  • Conduct thorough QA testing to ensure rendering and logic accuracy across browsers, devices, and operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot platform-specific issues related to personalization, deliverability, or journey performance.
  • Document workflows, scripting patterns, and processes to support long-term scalability and internal knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with other teams to align CRM efforts with business goals.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in:

  • Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio
  • SQL queries and data extensions
  • Campaign QA, testing, and rendering best practices
  • Experience building and improving batch campaigns as well as identifying pathways to automated lifecycle communications
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML/CSS and ability to troubleshoot technical or rendering issues.
  • Familiar with campaign performance tracking and reporting via tools such as Adobe Analytics, Omni Analytics, or SFMC dashboards.
  • Passion for CRM innovation and a proactive mindset toward improving efficiency, personalization, and customer experience.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with an ability to thrive in a cross-functional environment.
