Job Description

The Specialist, Communications at Carnival Cruise Line supports the execution of internal communications strategies, ensuring effective messaging and engagement for shipboard and shoreside team members. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Communications, this role assists in managing internal communication channels, developing content, and executing corporate-wide announcements. The Specialist contributes to the production of town halls, management meetings, and team member engagement initiatives while helping to maintain communication tools and processes that align with corporate objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Write, create, and distribute content for internal audiences, including all internal publications (e.g., The Current newsletter), bios, event invitations, and executive correspondence.

  • Maintain the company's modern SharePoint intranet site, partnering with stakeholders companywide to keep content fresh, relevant, and on-brand.

  • Fulfill internal requests for assets including information, photography, and videography.

  • Support executive and stakeholder communication efforts, including drafting talking points, scripts, and correspondence.

  • Maintain current internal distribution lists and support event logistics for internal/external events and staff activations as needed.

  • Serve as a member of the company's rotating on-call communications team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Scope: This role operates within CCL Communications and collaborates with both shoreside and shipboard team members across the brand. The Specialist supports companywide internal communications reaching thousands of team members across multiple locations, ships, and time zones. The role does not have global (all-brand) responsibilities but does interface regularly with Carnival Corporation peers and cross-functional partners in HR, Marketing, Guest Operations, Technical Operations, and Executive Leadership.

  • Problem Solving: The Specialist navigates time-sensitive, high-visibility communications situations that require strong judgment and discretion. The role anticipates communication needs tied to fast-moving business priorities, identifies gaps in messaging or distribution, and adapts content for diverse audiences, including team members for whom English is a second language. Problems are typically solved through research, stakeholder consultation, and applying established communications best practices, while occasionally requiring creative solutions for new or unusual requests.

  • Impact: This role directly impacts how CCL team members across shoreside and shipboard understand company strategy, leadership priorities, and key initiatives. The Specialist contributes to the standards and tone of internal communications at CCL and helps protect the brand's voice in every team member-facing touchpoint, including the SharePoint intranet, The Current newsletter, town halls, executive messages and more.

  • Leadership: The Specialist has no direct reports but is expected to lead through influence, collaborating with senior leaders, executives, and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality communications. The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, take ownership of deliverables from concept to execution, and represent the Communications team professionally in stakeholder meetings. Leadership is also demonstrated through mentoring interns, modeling brand standards, and supporting the rotating on-call function.

Essential/Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field

Essential experience required

  • 2+ years of experience in an internal communications, public relations, or corporate communications environment
  • Demonstrated experience writing for diverse internal audiences across multiple channels (newsletter, intranet, executive correspondence, event materials)
  • Experience supporting executive communications and large-scale internal events such as town halls

Travel Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely
