About this job:
The Communications Specialist will manage overall internal communications, supporting the Executive Director and members of the department’s leadership team. Additionally, this role supports the production of internal newsletters, management of the department’s web communications and provides writing and editing support. The position will also act are a representative of the department at events, and work on special projects.

What You'll Do:
- Serves as communication specialist for the Department of Climate and Safety initiatives, goals, and priorities with focus on forward-looking message and communication planning.
- Works effectively and independently with various stakeholders.
- Processes competency in tracking and reporting strategic plan impacts.
- Provides assistance in educating and communicating organizational process improvements within the Department of Climate and Safety.
- Provides communication support to leadership and other team members on a regular basis and coordinates the regular production of communications to department employees, including content gathering, editing and publication.
- Oversees various internal communications, such as newsletters, policies, memos, and online content by providing copy and editing support.
- Responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive community relations strategies that align with the strategic priorities of the Department of Climate and Safety.
- Manages the department’s web and social media sites.
- Assist with special events and department projects as needed and represents the department at community events.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications preferred.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Three (3) years of progressive experience in the communications field, preferably with experience in education or with a public agency
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
- Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
