Introduction:

The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university; Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.

The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is the first private-sector university-led trans-provincial Board (awarding body) in Pakistan established through the Ordinance of the Government of Pakistan. The Board offers high-quality examinations for Secondary School (grades 9th and 10th - SSC) and Higher Secondary School (grades 11th and 12th - HSSC/ FSC) qualifications for public and private schools across Pakistan. The Board also offers a Middle School Programme (MSP) for grades 6th–8th students and its registered schools engage a globally accepted approach, Project-Based Learning (PBL) to implement the MSP. PBL is considered as a foundation of the AKU-EB MSP, helping schools foster a sense of purpose and leadership in young learners.

At the heart of AKU-EB’s mission is to shift teaching and learning away from rote learning and move towards higher order thinking, preparing students for higher education and lifelong learning. The Board is evaluated internationally for implementing global best practices, making AKU-EB qualifications credible and recognized globally.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Specialist (CEO’s Office) in the Examination Board.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • develop, review, and enhance policies, procedures, and operational guidelines aligned with international best practices
  • serve as the primary focal point for schools, internal departments, medical professionals, psychologists, and external experts
  • evaluate complex access arrangement requests and provide evidence-based recommendations
  • monitor implementation and compliance with approved access arrangements
  • analyze implementation data and prepare reports and recommendations for senior management
  • identify, engage, and maintain relationships with donors and funding partners
  • prepare and submit donor proposals, progress updates, and reports
  • maintain an accurate database of financial aid arrangements and beneficiaries
  • coordinate donor recognition and stewardship activities
  • provide administrative and operational support for strategic initiatives
  • draft reports, proposals, presentations, and official correspondence
  • coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • facilitate meetings, workshops, official visits, and strategic events
  • support the AKU-EB Board of Directors and Executive Committee as Board Secretary/Deputy Secretary
  • prepare, organize, and maintain Board documentation and records
  • archive IBCC and Equivalency Committee agendas and minutes
  • highlight key agendas and action items relevant to the CEO's Office.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • BS/ MS in education, social sciences, management, or a related field, Masters will be preferred
  • minimum 3 years of experience in education management, student services, donor relations, or a related field. (Experience working with vulnerable or special needs groups will be an advantage.)
  • strong coordination, communication, and presentation skills
  • good report writing skills (proposals, donor updates, analytical reports)
  • ability to engage with diverse stakeholders including schools, donors, NGOs, and policymakers
  • good data collection, management, and analysis skills
  • demonstrated sensitivity to equity and inclusion issues in education
  • strong IT skills (MS Office, database management).
