We are seeking a commercially minded and relationship-driven Business Development Specialist to help drive growth across our Xylem Water Solutions (WSS) business. Reporting to the Sales Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for a strategic business development specialist who enjoys working across markets, engaging with industry stakeholders across but not limited to the Mining, Industrial, Power Generation and Municipal sectors, helping position Xylem as a trusted water solutions partner.

About the opportunity

You will focus on identifying and developing growth opportunities within your segment, while working closely with sales, marketing and the broader business.

This is a highly external-facing role centred on market development, customer engagement and relationship-building. You will also support sales and marketing plans, contribute market insights, and help position Xylem as a trusted solutions provider across Australia, New Zealand and PNG.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue growth opportunities across your assigned segment and region
• Build strong relationships with customers, consulting engineers, specifiers and project stakeholders
• Lead business development activity with Engineering Consultancy Firms and EPC organisations
• Generate qualified leads and support sales teams to convert opportunities into growth
• Analyse market trends, competitor activity and customer insights to inform strategy
• Develop sales enablement materials, value propositions and market plans to support go-to-market success
• High level of domestic and some international travel

About you

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

• Experience in business development, sales or marketing within a technical or engineering-related environment
• Demonstrated success in growth strategy, lead generation and identifying new market opportunities
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with customers, consultants and internal stakeholders
• Analytical capability to interpret market, customer and competitor data and turn it into action
• Commercial awareness and confidence working across strategic planning and customer-facing activity
• Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently across Australia, New Zealand and PNG
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Marketing, Business or a related field desirable
