Job Description

Specialist, Assessment (VQ)

In this role, you will lead the delivery and quality of vocational assessment processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality outcomes for learners.

This role aligns to industry-level titles such as Assessment Manager, Assessment Delivery Lead, Quality & Assessment Specialist, or Assessment Operations Lead.

The Role

At Pearson, we help people make measurable progress through learning. As a VQ Assessment Leader, you will play a critical role in ensuring vocational assessments are delivered with accuracy, integrity, and consistency in a regulated environment.

You’ll wake up excited to work at the heart of assessment delivery — collaborating with stakeholders, analysing data, and ensuring every assessment outcome is robust and defensible.

In your first six months, you’ll make the biggest impact by building confidence in your assessment portfolio, ensuring smooth delivery across key cycles, and strengthening relationships with internal teams and external partners.

What makes this role different is the balance of operational delivery, decision-making, and influence. You won’t just follow processes — you’ll contribute to improving them, ensuring learners receive fair and high-quality assessment outcomes.

What You’ll Own

Success in this role means delivering accurate, high-quality assessment outcomes that meet regulatory standards and support learner success.

Your top priorities will be:

  • Ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of assessment content, processes, and results across your assigned qualifications.
  • Using data and insight to inform decisions on assessment performance, including supporting grade boundary setting and quality improvements.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners to ensure effective collaboration and consistent delivery.

You will influence the quality and integrity of assessment by identifying risks, supporting improvements, and ensuring compliance within a high-pressure, regulated environment.

About You

You bring experience in assessment, content development, or education operations, and you’re someone who thrives in structured, fast-paced environments.

You bring assessment or content experience, and you’re someone who balances attention to detail with strong decision-making and accountability.

Whether it’s analysing data, managing timelines, or collaborating with stakeholders, you thrive in environments where accuracy, quality, and outcomes matter.

You likely:

  • Work confidently in high-pressure, regulated environments.
  • Are comfortable making decisions based on data and evidence.
  • Communicate clearly and build strong working relationships.
  • Are curious, adaptable, and open to new ways of working.
  • Have strong organisational and project management skills.

You hold a degree or relevant qualification/experience and are confident using digital tools to improve processes and learner outcomes.

What You’ll Get

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality assessments that impact learners across the UK and beyond.

At Pearson, you’ll:

  • Work at the centre of assessment delivery, influencing outcomes that matter.
  • Build expertise in vocational assessment, quality assurance, and regulated environments.
  • Collaborate with a wide network of internal teams and external partners.
  • Be part of an organisation committed to innovation, integrity, and learner success.

You’ll also benefit from Pearson’s wider offering, including professional development, flexible working, and a supportive, purpose-driven culture.
