Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Responsible for assured supply of materials, equipment and services, (on time, best price, high quality) in addition to competitive costs, minimizing inventories while ensuring optimum materials utilization, and supplier performance.
• Support sourcing activities for assigned indirect spend categories for SHOCS and JD plant operations.
• Execute commercial activities including RFQ/RFP, quotation analysis, supplier comparison, negotiation support, and purchase recommendation.
• Support sourcing in categories such as labor outsourcing, MRO, facilities, logistics, services, office and site-related spend, as applicable.
• Work with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and support timely sourcing execution.
• Coordinate with suppliers to support cost, service, quality, responsiveness, and continuity of supply or service.
• Support contract preparation, commercial documentation, and supplier onboarding processes in accordance with Corning policies.
• Monitor supplier performance and help drive issue resolution with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Support working capital initiatives such as payment term improvement and basic contract optimization where applicable.
• Maintain sourcing records, supplier information, and supporting documentation in relevant systems.
• Ensure sourcing activities are aligned with GSM policies, business needs, and compliance requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 2–5 years of procurement / supply management experience, with relevant experience in indirect sourcing.
• Experience in plant-related indirect categories such as labor outsourcing, MRO, facilities, logistics, services, or similar areas.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations or plant-related sourcing activities is preferred.
• Basic to solid negotiation, supplier management, and commercial skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Good communication skills in both English and Chinese.
• Experience in indirect sourcing in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience working with APAC suppliers.
• Experience in RFQ, supplier comparison, and contract support.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, QAD, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of sourcing compliance, supplier management, and basic working capital concepts.
