
The Special Security Office (SSO) Security Specialist Level I supports day-to-day Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security operations, including SCIF access control, visitor screening, SCI indoctrination and debriefing support, classified material handling, records maintenance, courier support, and assistance with annual SCI training tracking. This role helps ensure SCI and collateral classified information is properly received, safeguarded, transmitted, stored, and destroyed in accordance with established security procedures. The ideal candidate has foundational SSO experience, knowledge of SCI access processes and SCIF operations, strong communication and customer service skills, and the ability to support secure, accurate, and compliant mission operations.
Minimum Education and Experience• High school diploma.• Three (3) years of continuous experience working on a three-star Command or Agency SSO staff. Required Knowledge and Skills• Knowledge of SSO requirements contained in applicable manuals, regulations, policies, and instructions.• Knowledge of SCI access procedures; Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP), or its successor application; the Defense Information System for Security (DISS), or the current DoD system of record for clearances; and Scattered Castles administration.• Strong communication and customer-service skills, including the ability to respond professionally to questions, complaints, and requests. Required Training• SCI- or DIA-sponsored SSO Administration Course, or equivalent.• ODNI-NCSC Special Security Officers Course (SSOC) or DIA SCI Security Officials Course.• ODNI-NCSC Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility Course.• ODNI-NCSC Personnel Security Adjudications Course (PSAC) or Fundamentals of National Security Adjudications (CDSE PS101.01).• DCSA-CDSE Introduction to Industrial Security or DoD Security Specialist (CDSE GS101.01).• DCSA-CDSE Introduction to Physical Security (CDSE PY011.16) or Physical Security and Asset Protection (CDSE PY201.01).• DCSA-CDSE Introduction to National Security for Security Practitioners (CDSE PS113.16).• DCSA-CDSE Information Security Awareness—Initial and Introduction to Information Security (CDSE IF011.16). Location: Travis AFB, CA Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner.
