Special Projects Manager – Medicaid | Five Towns, NY · $75k-$120k

About the Role This is a high-stakes, high-visibility position for someone who knows the Medicaid application world inside and out — and knows how to move cases forward when the clock is ticking and revenue is on the line. You'll serve as a specialist focused on the organization's most complex, difficult-to-close Medicaid cases across 14 facilities, stepping in where bandwidth runs thin and the cost of missing a deadline can reach $40,000 in a single month. No hand-holding, no training ramp — just ownership, urgency, and results.

Key Responsibilities

Case Oversight & Management

• Own and drive the most complex Medicaid-pending cases across multiple facilities to completion
• Monitor application timelines, collect required documentation, and ensure monthly deadlines are met
• Get hands-on when cases stall rather than relying on follow-up emails

Cross-Facility Coordination

• Oversee building-level teams tracking admissions and case plans across 14 facilities
• Partner with business office managers who handle routine operations, stepping in on problem cases that exceed their bandwidth
• Maintain strong working knowledge of each active case and its individual challenges

Revenue Protection

• Identify and prioritize cases with the highest revenue-at-risk exposure
• Prevent revenue losses caused by missed Medicaid deadlines that cannot be backdated
• Manage insurance authorization negotiations as part of broader case strategy

Qualifications

• Seasoned experience with Medicaid application processes — this role hits the ground running from day one
• Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple complex, moving cases simultaneously
