As a Swim Abilities Teacher, you'll bring our specialized Swim Abilities curriculum to life, using the Swim Abilities Methodology to teach children with special needs--such as autism, anxiety, motor challenges, sensory issues, or developmental delays--how to feel safe, confident, and empowered in the water. This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to transform lives through personalized, therapy-focused swim instruction.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize safety, creating a secure and nurturing environment for every student
  • Deliver private swim lessons with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm, adapting to each child's unique needs
  • Follow tailored lesson plans to help students progress toward group lessons when appropriate, celebrating milestones along the way
  • Engage with students using sensory, visual, and physical stimulation techniques to foster comfort and confidence
  • Collaborate with monitors and team members to refine your teaching approach and grow your expertise
  • Maintain consistent attendance to provide stability and build trust with students and families
  • Embody the Barron Mission, making a lasting impact through compassionate, individualized instruction

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Swim 30 feet with ease to lead by example
  • Lift and transition students, from young children to high school age, weighing 50 lbs or more, to assist as needed
  • Rely on sharp vision and hearing to keep every swimmer safe
  • Thrive during 4+ hours in a chlorinated pool

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passion for walking with children with special needs and a commitment to their growth
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students and families
  • Previous experience in swim instruction, special education, or therapy-based roles is a plus
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse needs and learning styles
