Special Education Teacher - Leave Replacement Position

David Brearley High School

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid NJDOE K-12 Instructional Certificate with a NJDOE Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSWD) Endorsement or NJDOE Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) Certificate, NJDOE School Social Worker or NJDOE School Psychologist Certificate.
2. Demonstrated successful experience working with students with special needs; experience working with multiple secondary grade levels preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of effective individualized transition planning, life skills, work-based learning, curriculum design, assessment, differentiation, student supports, and classroom management.
4. Ability to use assessment data, student work, and other instructional evidence to monitor progress, differentiate instruction, and support diverse learners at the high school level.
5. Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with high school students, families, colleagues, counselors, and administrators.
6. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
7. Must meet NJ Residency requirements as per the New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70).

• The position is not eligible for additional compensation in the form of stipends for

extracurricular activities, coaching, or tuition reimbursement based on district policy.

• In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:16-1:1, time accrued in a leave replacement position does not

count towards tenure.
