Job Description

FT Teacher � Special Education (Severe)

Location/Format: Rocky Peak Virtual Elementary (Must live in the state of Utah)

We are seeking a dedicated and tech-savvy Full-Time Special Education Teacher (Severe) to support students in a virtual learning environment. In this role, you will deliver live instruction, manage student behavior, and collaborate closely with families and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Virtual Instruction & Management: Deliver engaging live instruction via Zoom. Manage student learning and behavior effectively across Zoom, Canvas, ClassDojo, Nearpod, and other digital platforms.
  • Lesson Planning & Curriculum: Create and manage daily lesson plans, translating best teaching practices into an effective virtual classroom setting. Utilize or be willing to be trained in Jordan District-provided curriculum.
  • Special Education Case Management: Demonstrate competency in writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and maintain deep knowledge of Special Education policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work actively within professional learning communities (PLCs). Maintain strong written and verbal communication with parents via text, email, and phone calls.
  • In-Person Requirements: Attend mandatory in-person meetings once a week in South Jordan, along with other required in-person Special Education trainings.

Qualifications & Preferences

  • Residency: Must live in the state of Utah (Required)
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in digital learning programs such as Zoom, Canvas, ClassDojo, and Nearpod.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Ed Tech Endorsement preferred.
    • Prior virtual teaching experience preferred.

UTAH STATE RETIREMENT
Benefit eligible employees are automatically members of the Utah Retirement Systems (URS). This means that the District contributes into the URS plan on your behalf each month. After the URS vesting period of four years, you will have either the Hybrid option, which is a combination of a pension with a 401k plan, or the 401k option if you choose.
