The Position: Our Special Education teachers play a vital role in planning, organizing, and delivering specialized instructional programs in a special education elementary or secondary learning environment, guiding and encouraging students to develop and fulfill their academic/ behavioral potential. Teachers work under the general supervision of the Principal and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $70,304 - $76,000 annually

Qualifications:

  • Current California Intern/Preliminary/Clear Extensive Needs Education Specialist Credential
  • Experience working with students with learning, emotional, and behavioral disabilities, autism spectrum, speech and communication disorders preferred
  • Preferred: Prior teaching experience in a non-public school special education setting
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and other office-related software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • General administrative and clerical abilities
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination, tuberculosis (TB) test, and drug screening

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and implement engaging daily lessons aligned with the approved curriculum
  • Conduct pre- and post-testing using standardized teacher-developed tests for each student
  • As part of the team, develop, implement, and present IEPs in collaboration with students, parents, and other educators
  • Manage classroom behavior in a respectful, structured, and trauma-informed manner
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, progress reports, and documentation as required
  • Demonstrate competency in all subject areas and schedule the classroom day to include instruction in all curriculum areas
  • Actively participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Meetings
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement effective instructional strategies
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure student success
  • Supervise Instructional Aides assigned to the classroom
  • Actively participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) plan
  • Must maintain an active teaching credential, license, or permit
  • Use of a personal cell phone for work-related communication when agency radios and phones are not easily accessible
  • Ability to transfer classrooms as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times
  • Represent the agency in a professional, respectful manner when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
  • Complete all onboarding requirements within the designated time frame and remain in compliance with agency expectations for timely review and acknowledgment of policies, procedures, and trainings
  • Perform all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
