Job Description


This position is for School Year 2026-2027.

This position does not accept J1 visa applicants.

The successful external (non-FEA) applicant will receive a $2,000 signing bonus following the first 30 days of his/her contract.

Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings. Through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, facilitates development in areas of need such as educational, social/emotional, communication, gross motor, fine motor, and adaptive.

Retirement: State of Alaska TRS
Bargaining Unit: Fairbanks Education Association (FEA)
Salary: Determined by the FEA Negotiated Agreement
Contract Length: Minimum of 184 days

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in deaf education
  2. Must possess or be eligible for a valid Alaska Initial, Professional, or Master certificate with an endorsement in Special Education
  3. Must be proficient in sign language
  4. Working Knowledge of state and federal Special Education Laws.
  5. Must be able to travel to various schools and offices within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. While driving on district business, must hold a valid driver's license, current vehicle insurance and registration.
