Oak Hill School’s is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and compassionate Certified Special Education Teacher to join our growing team!

About the Position
The Certified Special Education Teacher works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In this role, you will plan, organize, and facilitate student instruction while providing leadership and direction to the classroom team. You will develop, implement, and monitor individualized programs designed to strengthen students' academic, vocational, social, behavioral, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills.
Your work will help students build greater independence, confidence, and quality of life.
What You'll Do
• Develop a thorough understanding of each student's individual strengths, needs, and educational goals.
• Develop and implement individualized educational programs designed to meet student needs and promote consistency in program delivery.
• Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), in accordance with each student's Planning and Placement Team (PPT) process and formal and informal assessments.
• Complete student assessments and ecological inventories to support interdisciplinary team objectives.
• Implement instructional programming across academic, ADL, behavioral, therapeutic, and other individualized learning areas.
• Develop and coordinate student schedules and daily routines.
• Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports and participate in quarterly meetings with parents and families.
• Use differentiated and evidence-based instructional strategies to help students construct meaning, apply new learning, and achieve individual goals.
• Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback to students, parents, and support staff.
• Plan instructional content aligned with educational standards while building upon each student's prior knowledge and abilities.
• Complete thematic planning, master scheduling, and scaffolded instruction.
• Collaborate with the trans-disciplinary team to exchange information, evaluate student progress, and determine appropriate program modifications.
• Lead, encourage, coach, and inspire classroom employees to provide exceptional support to students.
• Train and evaluate assigned classroom staff.
• Conduct monthly one-to-one meetings and annual performance evaluations with assigned employees.
• Create a positive, collaborative, and student-centered classroom environment where both students and staff can thrive.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required
• Connecticut Department of Education Special Education Teacher Certification preferred
• Experience in an educational environment and/or working with individuals with disabilities is strongly encouraged
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
• A passion for developing and inspiring both students and classroom staff
Candidates currently pursuing a Master's degree in Special Education are encouraged to apply!
