The Secondary Special Education Teacher provides specially designed instruction and support to students with disabilities in grades 7�12 in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher may provide instruction through resource room, consultant teacher, co-teaching, and other special education service models.
The teacher collaborates with content-area teachers, related service providers, school counselors, families, and administrators to support students' progress toward academic, social-emotional, behavioral, graduation, and postsecondary transition goals. Responsibilities include developing and implementing IEPs, monitoring and documenting student progress, providing appropriate accommodations and modifications, and supporting students in meeting course and diploma requirements.
The Secondary Special Education Teacher reports directly to the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.
