
Title: Special Education Teacher

Campus Location: Normal, IL
The HILIA Special Education Teacher will work with students who have visual impairments, are deaf/hard of hearing, and/or learning and behavioral needs. This individual will be responsible for providing direct services to students. Creating lesson plans, managing a caseload of students, and implementing high quality instruction are requirements of this position. In addition, working with a team of both special educators and general education colleagues, will be mandatory to program for the needs of our students with IEPs. The caseload of students and responsibilities of the position are subject to change throughout the year as the needs of the HILIA Program evolve.
This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension to a second year, subject to student enrollment and the needs of the HILIA Program.
$42,417.50 - $84,000, depending on years of service and degree

1. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education; Specialist in Low Vision Blindness, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, and/or Learning and Behavior
2. Professional Educator License
1. Demonstrates competence in Braille and assistive technology skills
2. Demonstrates competence in sign language skills
3. Experience and knowledge in specially designed instruction
4. Experience and knowledge with implementing classroom accommodations and behavior strategies
Typically Monday through Friday school hours with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
3. May be required to travel/drive to covered school districts
