At Pennock, we believe every student belongs. Our Intensive Needs Paraprofessionals play an essential role in helping students with significant disabilities learn, grow, build independence, and experience success both inside and outside the classroom.

What You'll Do

  • Support students academically, socially, behaviorally, and with daily living skills.
  • Work alongside teachers and specialists to implement student IEPs.
  • Build positive relationships while encouraging independence and confidence.
  • Assist with communication, classroom participation, transitions, lunch, recess, and school activities.
  • Implement behavior support plans and use CPI strategies when needed.
  • Provide personal care and medical support as directed by the school nurse.
  • Collect student data and communicate observations with the educational team.
  • Help create a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment.

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and assisting students with mobility and personal care. Staff may occasionally need to implement CPI-approved physical interventions to ensure student safety.

Salary & Schedule

Classified Grade L
Starting at $21.66/hour (based on relevant experience)

  • 8.5 hours per day
  • Tuesday-Friday
  • 9-month position (paid over 12 months)
  • Benefits eligible

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and staff and student handbooks.
  • Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic math, including algebra and geometry.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred at time of hire or able to obtain within 2 months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students with social and/or emotional disabilities preferred but not required.
  • Skills in crisis management, flexibility, patience and ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.
  • Valid driver's license is required to obtain a small vehicle permit, if required to transport students.
