District policy 2112 summarizes the importance of two-way communication between home & school & describes the responsibilities of the school & the parents in this process. The district plan titled “Parent Involvement in the School Program” will be printed each year in August.
Each school welcomes parents to Open House in the fall, parent-teacher conferences, evening programs related to curriculum & school activities. Parents also participate on many school committees, volunteer in classrooms, organize fundraisers & help us to provide their students with an outstanding education.
All P-CCS teachers are teaching in areas in which they are certified by the State of Michigan. The federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law requires an even higher level of certification. At the secondary level, these new standards require teachers to possess at least a bachelor’s degree & full state certification & teach only in areas in which they have a major or equivalent graduate degree or a minor & have passed the state exam in that subject.
All P-CCS elementary teachers meet the federal requirements for highly qualified teachers. Parents have a right to know the qualifications of the teachers of their children & may contact their school to get this information.
