Job Description

Ross Local School District is accepting applications for a Special Education Paraprofessional at Ross Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Intervention Specialists and general education staff to support students with disabilities and promote academic, social, and behavioral success in the middle school setting.

Start Date: August 2026 with several mandatory meetings prior to the first day.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Ohio Educational Aide Permit.
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students and/or students with disabilities preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Experience with behavior management and de-escalation strategies is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional support to students with disabilities in both inclusive and specialized classroom settings.
  • Assist Intervention Specialists with implementing accommodations, modifications, and services outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially throughout the school day.
  • Assist with small group instruction, assignments, assessments, and classroom activities.
  • Monitor and document student progress as directed by certified staff.
  • Provide supervision during transitions, lunch periods, field trips, and other school-related activities.
  • Assist students with personal care needs when necessary.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and required district trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or supervising Intervention Specialist.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, transfer, or assist students as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the school day.
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
