Job Description

Ross Local School District is seeking qualified applicants for a Special Education Paraprofessional position at Morgan Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. This position provides instructional, behavioral, and personal support to students with disabilities in a collaborative and inclusive educational environment.

Start Date: August 2026, with multiple mandatory meetings prior to the first day.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Ohio Educational Aide Permit.
  • Experience working with children, particularly students with disabilities, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and families.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • CPI, de-escalation, or behavior management training preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Intervention Specialist in implementing instructional activities, accommodations, and modifications as outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to individual students and small groups.
  • Support students in inclusive and special education settings throughout the school day.
  • Assist with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Provide supervision during lunch, recess, transitions, and other school activities as assigned.
  • Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance, when required.
  • Collect and maintain student data to support progress monitoring.
  • Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom organization.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or supervising Intervention Specialist.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, or assist students and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the school day.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
