Calendar and Compensation

• $24.41 - $34.33 hourly (CSEA Range 1)
• Work year is 206 days, 11 months, 6 hours per day
• Bilingual Spanish signing incentive available (one-time, prorated)
• Bilingual (Spanish) stipend of $100.00 monthly
• Generous health benefit options (see page 2), including several that require no employee contribution for self.

Under the supervision of teacher or administrator, supervises students in study center, learning center or classroom and provides a variety of clerical and typing work for instructional departments and/or the school office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Work with students in various settings to reinforce learning of material and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
2. Check and record student attendance.
3. Help English Learners with study problems as requested by certificated staff.
4. Order supplies, maintain equipment inventory, and process incoming study materials.
5. Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, etc.
6. Type, proofread, file, and compile information for reports and summaries.
7. Assist with maintaining order and discipline in tutorial center or classroom.
8. Compose simple letters, type letters, memoranda, bulletins, reports or other materials.
9. Assist with career materials and administer language placement tests and other classroom tests as requested by a teacher.
10. Assist students in math, reading, and writing utilizing computer software programs.
11. Decorate and prepare classrooms for parent meetings and various holidays.
12. Interpret in Parent Advisory Committee meetings.
13. Translate letters and forms sent to parents.
14. Provide help to new students by informing them about the school rules and policies that affects them, as well as making sure they are paired up with a student who speaks his/her native language.
15. Interpret and translate for parents, students, counselors, deans, health clerk, and psychologists and other staff as needed.
16. Perform other duties / skills related to the job description as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years college (48 semester units).
• Experience working with teenagers preferred.
• Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to type and operate basic office equipment.
• Ability to work with students in various settings to reinforce learning of material and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Ability to perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating, maintaining routine records, operate basic office equipment, and utilize basic computer skills.

High school classroom and office environment. Moderate physical effort.
