Ensures the timeliness and accuracy of reporting for required Special Education State and Federal compliance reports. Designs and creates management reports to help proactively monitor internal performance, productivity and compliance using information from a variety of systems. Generate a variety of ad-hoc reports requested by the special education department, schools, other District staff, and other external stakeholders.
This position is open until filled with the first round of application reviews beginning on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Examples of duties
60%
- Coordinates with the special education information management team, to coordinate, analyze, reconcile and complete monthly student data compliance reporting required by the State of Washington and the Federal government.
- Ensures the accuracy of reported data, compliance with State enrollment reporting standards, and reconciliation of enrollment and billing procedures related to Special Education with the District accounting office.
- Coordinates with other departments (Technology Services, Enrollment, Budget, etc.) to ensure District-level consistency of information reported related to Special Education.

- Designs and creates management reports to help proactively monitor internal performance, productivity and compliance using information from a variety of systems.
- Generates ad hoc reports for management to help monitor compliance, accuracy and timeliness of data entry and reporting related to special education.
- Responds to audit requests for information.
- Generates reports of aggregated and/or student-level data for various requesters, including schools, central administrative staff, and other external requesters, including State and Federal auditors.

- In coordination with the Special Education Information Management Analyst, acts as liaison to appropriate school and district staff to ensure district policies and procedures related to Special Education are followed to maintain accuracy and completeness of data entered.
- Coordinates with the Department of Technical Services (DoTS) to ensure documentation and procedures used by the central student data system are correct and up to date.
- Includes interaction with school staff to ensure accuracy and completeness of data provided as necessary.
- Inform and instruct staff on correct procedures, timelines and policies needed for compliance reporting.

- Working as part of a cross-departmental team, this position supports the central quality control process for special education student data entered by schools in the District's special education student data system.
- Designs and develops quality assurance methods to identify trends, discrepancies and confirm accuracy of data.
- Uses appropriate analysis and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel or SPSS to perform quality assurance on key identified metrics and to identify emerging trends.
- Ensures approaches are documented, standardized and replicable for consistent results.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends changes for process or system improvement to maximize revenue, timeliness, accuracy and compliance in reporting, and helps implement systemic process improvements.
- This position requires frequent interaction with school registrars and frequent communication with district and State personnel to ensure accuracy of student data and compliance with reporting requirements.

- In coordination with the Special Education Information Management Analyst, works with State personnel and State Educational Data System (EDS) software programs to monitor changes in compliance reporting.
- Generates required State student identification data as necessary to integrate into central reporting.

- In coordination with the special education information management team, manages student-level data changes and main data files used for enrollment accounting used for reporting.
- Document and archive processes and data for archival backup and auditing purposes.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for processes that support state reporting including the generation and maintenance of required State data system student IDs and school/principal profiles.
- Responsible for submitting reports that hold state and federal funding implications, directs resources district-wide and determination level for the district by OSPI.
- Reliability of data submitted is crucial to the district's compliance with government programs.

Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Three (3) years of data analysis and reporting, data management, computer/programming or business experience working with complex business applications and reporting/data analysis tools; experience working in a K-12 education environment; Special Education business processes, systems and compliance reporting preferred; Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Business Administration, or similar field; or equivalent work experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work will be considered.
