
Special Counsel – M&A (Superannuation, Financial Services & Funds Management)
We are seeking a Special Counsel as a strategic hire to play a central role in the growth of our high‑performing team, with a strong focus on leadership, client impact and practice development.
The role
In this role you will work closely with Partners Nathan Hodge and Sarah Yu on complex, high-value matters across superannuation, financial services and funds management. This role will help shape the practice, deepen key client relationships and contribute to the continued expansion of our superannuation, insurance and funds management offering.
Our clients include major banks, superannuation funds, insurers, wealth platforms and investment managers. We provide transactional, advisory and regulatory advice across a variety of matters including:
Superannuation fund mergers and successor fund transfers
Financial services transactions across the firm
Governance and operating model design
Product lifecycle and disclosure
Regulatory reform and implementation
Outsourcing and service provider arrangements
Investment and financial advice frameworks
Regulatory issues and solutions
Dispute resolution
About you
You are a senior financial services lawyer with strong technical capability and commercial judgement. You will:
bring deep financial services experience from a leading firm, regulator or in-house team
lead matters and stakeholders with confidence and sound judgement
deliver clear, practical advice to sophisticated clients
draft and review complex documents to a high standard
demonstrate strong client leadership and a track record in business development
develop and mentor junior lawyers
