DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves assisting with the administrative duties of the Vice President of Human Resources of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent serves as an assistant, performing a wide variety of duties and special projects. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Gathers, investigates, researches, analyzes and/or studies information effecting organization wide, intradepartmental or interdepartmental operations;
Coordinates special projects on behalf of the Vice President of Human Resources;
Performs confidential projects;
Coordinates and participates in the preparation, development, revision and dissemination of various reports and assessments to ensure compliance with the rules, regulations and other standards established by the ECMC Corporation, regulatory and accreditation agencies;
Assists with various cost analyses, projections, reports and business development efforts;
Responds to routine inquires as assigned;
Maintains professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of goals, objectives, structure and operations of a human resource department in a major healthcare organization; good knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, regulations, bylaws and the environment within which they operate; working knowledge of cost analysis techniques; ability to work independently; ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with a wide range of constituents; ability to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects; ability to create, compose and edit correspondence and other written material; ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports; ability to analyze and solve problems; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; confidentiality; tact; sound judgment; initiative; resourcefulness; dependability; ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Healthcare, Business or Public Administration or related field and one (1) year of business or clerical experience.
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
