Executive Assistant to the CEO

Schechter Reed is recruiting an Executive Assistant for our client, a mission-driven regional nonprofit, to support its CEO. The role goes beyond calendar management. It includes direct contact with the Board, donors, media, and a staff of about 200, and a prior holder of this role moved into a senior leadership position.

  • Compensation: $95K - $128K

About the Role

The CEO is highly visible in the community, works with a strong executive team, and depends on the EA to coordinate across leadership, staff, the Board, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the CEO's calendar, align time to organizational goals, and flag conflicts and decision points early
  • Serve as the central coordination point between the CEO and executives, staff, Board members, donors, partners, government officials, and media
  • Prepare the CEO for meetings with agendas, briefing materials, talking points, and presentations; draft and edit executive communications
  • Handle scheduling, travel, correspondence, and follow-up
  • Build and maintain systems that track the CEO's priorities, commitments, and action items
  • Provide administrative support to the Board and its committees, including meeting logistics, materials, records, and Board member onboarding
  • Run CEO-led meetings, retreats, receptions, and events from invitations through day-of logistics and follow-up
  • Manage special projects across departments through completion

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years supporting senior executives, Boards, or organizational leadership (equivalent experience considered)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience producing polished executive materials
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organization and project management in a fast-paced setting
  • Proactive, independent judgment and discretion with confidential information
  • Diplomacy with staff, executives, Board members, donors, officials, and media
  • Commitment to the organization's mission

Preferred:

  • Experience with board management software
