Job Description

Summary of Essential Functions

The Coordinator of Imaging Operations and Informatics is responsible for coordinating imaging informatics systems and supporting departmental operations through data analytics, reporting, inventory management, contract administration, policy oversight, and project coordination. This position serves as a key liaison between Radiology, Information Technology, physicians, leadership, and vendors to support efficient operations, regulatory compliance, system performance, and strategic initiatives. The coordinator manages departmental reporting, equipment and software inventories, vendor relationships, purchasing activities, and operational documentation while providing support for imaging applications and workflows.

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiology, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Licensure and Certifications

  • One of the below licenses or certifications is preferred:
  • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
  • Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA)
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Clinical Informatics and Imaging Professional (CIIP) certification.
  • Medical Radiologic Technology (MRT) License from the State of Texas.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in Radiography R.T.(R) or military equivalent.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Five years of experience in medical imaging, imaging informatics, healthcare operations, or a related healthcare field preferred.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present operational data.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, databases, and standard desktop applications.
  • Experience managing inventory, capital assets, purchasing processes, and vendor contracts.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement processes.
  • Working knowledge of PACS, RIS, EMR, imaging informatics systems, and healthcare technology platforms.
  • Strong project management, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, leaders, vendors, and associates.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily works the day shift tour of duty; additional hours may be required as needed, including weekends.
  • May be expected to lift over twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols.
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrists and fingers.
  • Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near-normal range.
  • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between Radiology, Information Technology, physicians, leadership, and vendors.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute operational, financial, quality, regulatory, and performance reports to support departmental decision-making.
  • Analyze departmental data and trends to support productivity monitoring, strategic planning, resource allocation, quality improvement initiatives, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage departmental inventory, including imaging equipment, technology assets, software licenses, maintenance agreements, and operational resources.
  • Coordinate vendor contracts, service agreements, renewals, and purchasing activities while maintaining appropriate documentation and compliance records.
  • Manage and maintain departmental policies, procedures, workflows, and operational documentation to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage capital budget requests, equipment acquisition processes, and implementation activities.
  • Coordinate equipment replacement planning, vendor evaluations, and purchasing initiatives.
  • Manage quality assurance programs, audits, accreditation support activities, and operational compliance reporting.
  • Manage reconciliation processes and support data integrity across imaging systems.
  • Coordinate and support departmental projects, workflow improvement initiatives, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate and assist with software upgrades, testing, implementation activities, and system enhancements to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Support imaging informatics applications through troubleshooting, workflow optimization, user support, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate installation and implementation of imaging equipment, software applications, interfaces, and connectivity solutions.
  • Train stakeholders and employees on imaging systems, workflows, reporting tools, and operational processes.
  • Participate in planning, training, implementation, and ongoing support of imaging technology initiatives, including tele-radiology and enterprise imaging solutions.
  • Support department operating needs through equipment planning, inventory oversight, and resource management.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
