Purpose & Scope

The Electrical Specialist is responsible for inspecting, repairing, installing and maintaining all electrical/electronic equipment in the Bucyrus Bearing plant. This role requires the technician to repair and adjust precision instruments, electronic circuit boards and gauges to required tolerances.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Performs all Electrician duties.
  • Plans working procedures; make shop drawings; adjusts and installs electrical/electronic machines and equipment.
  • Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic circuit principles; state of the art components and machines;gauges;computers, and instruments.
  • Interfaces with outside suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Directs and/or assists electricians in installing, maintaining, and trouble-shooting complex electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, or replaces faulty parts and wiring on programmable controllers, digital logic, semiconductors, gauges and instruments for conformity to lab-type standards using a variety of measuring equipment such as digital logic analyzer, frequency counters, micrometers, super micrometer measuring machine and other electronic calibration equipment.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties such as periodic inspection, servicing, cleaning and adjusting automatic controls on electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Hand fits and adjusts small parts.
  • Maintains inventory, calibration and repair records, and reports needed items to supervision.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly.
  • Performs minor metal fabrication, pipe-fitting, and welding duties.

Educational/Technical/Functional Skills:

  • High SchoolDiploma or GEDrequired; Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering preferred.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on electrician experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge of machinery and controls (eg., Mills, Lathes, Heat Treat Furnaces, Grinders, Assembly Equipment).
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic and electrical equipment; familiarity with Modicon, Allen Bradley, and PLC-Direct PLCs preferred.
  • Proficient with electronic testing equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, meggers) and able to confirm calibrations.
  • Basic PC skills required; SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to read blueprints/technical manuals and follow written procedures for troubleshooting.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; attention to detail and service orientation are essential.

Specific Physical Requirements

  • Activities include frequent walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Repetitive movements such as twisting, bending, gripping, and operation of hand tools are required.

Unusual Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to a wide range of temperatures, loud noises, fumes, dust, and oil.
  • The Heat Treat area averages 70-95 degrees F; during summer months, temperatures can reach 100-105degres F. Humidity levels may vary.
  • Risks associated with open flames, quench oil exhaust fumes, and handling "red hot" parts and tools.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Standard factory PPE required, including hearing protection, eye procection, EH-rated safety toe shoes, and hand protection (gloves).
  • Arc Flash protective equipment as determined by ananlysis and EHS requirements.
  • Compliance with Lockout/Tagout procedures
