First Student is seeking experienced, fully licensed School Bus Driversfor substitute driving opportunities supporting HTS, field, athletic, and charter work
This position is designed for experienced drivers who already possess the required CDL and school bus qualifications and are looking for flexible driving opportunities.
School Bus Driver Benefits

  • Charter Hours Available:Opportunities may include extended charter assignments, including a current assignment of approximately 13.5 hours per day, 5 days per week

Your Day as a Substitute School Bus Driver May Include
  • Safely transporting students for HTS, field, athletic, and charter assignments
  • Supervising boarding and unloading and assisting students as needed
  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the bus
  • Reporting mechanical or safety concerns promptly
  • Following all traffic laws, DOT requirements, and company safety standards
  • Communicating professionally with students, families, school staff, dispatch, and other First Student team members
  • Providing dependable coverage based on operational needs and available assignments

Required Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must possess a valid CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
  • Must be qualified to operate a school bus without an air brake restriction, when applicable
  • Previous school bus driving experience preferred
  • Must meet all applicable DOT and First Student safety requirements
Please note: This opportunity is intended for candidates who are already fully licensed and qualified to operate a school bus.
Pay varies based on the type of assignment. HTS, field, and athletic work pays $36.18 per hour. Charter work pays $25.26 per hour.
DOT Requirement
This position is subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

This role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications be conducted in English.
