The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Press Office at City Hall is responsible for media monitoring, responding to media inquiries, preparing senior administration officials for media interviews, and planning media events designed to communicate accurate, timely information to the public. The Spanish-Language Deputy Press Secretary will play a key role in ensuring that Spanish-speaking New Yorkers and Spanish-language media outlets receive clear, timely, and accurate information about the Mayor’s agenda and city initiatives.

The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Spanish- Language Deputy Press Secretary’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as a primary liaison and spokesperson for Spanish-language media outlets covering City Hall and New York City government.
- Proactively pitching and responding to inquiries from Spanish-language reporters and coordinating rapid responses on behalf of the administration across Spanish-language media including mainstream, independent, and new media outlets.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with Spanish-language media across television, radio, print, digital platforms, and new media including YouTube, Substack, and more.
- Translating, writing, reviewing, and editing press releases, media advisories, talking points, briefing materials, and other communications in Spanish.
- Ensuring that major announcements, policies, and initiatives from the Mayor’s Office are communicated effectively to Spanish-speaking audiences.
- Coordinating closely with the Press Secretary and communications team to integrate Spanish-language outreach into the administration’s broader communications strategy.
- Helping plan and execute press events, briefings, and interviews with Spanish-language media
- Preparing senior administration officials, including the Mayor, for interviews with Spanish-language outlets and staffing those interviews when necessary.
- Performing other duties as necessary.

About You:
- You are fluent in both Spanish and English (written and spoken), required.
- You have strong writing and editing skills in both languages.
- You can work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven communications environment.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours, weekends, and on holidays.
- You can operate in a fast-paced environment, under short and shifting deadlines, and in high-pressure situations.
- You have previous on-the-record experience is desirable.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 1+ years of experience working in media relations and the communications field.

Qualifications

1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?

2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?

3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?

4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?
