The Spaceflight Hardware Systems Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans.
• Prepare materials for the system life cycle phasing, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
• Work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and to help them plan risk responses.
• Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance.
• Utilize requirements management software and systems engineering tool such as DOORS, Cradle or Jama.
• Create and manage requirements for various projects - including flow down from NASA Program to contractor Project through verification closeout as well as interface definition between subsystems.
• Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and raise issues.
• Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.
• Other duties as assigned.

• This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
• Must have 2+ years of recent and related work experience.
• Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.
• Knowledge and work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environment.
• Experience with requirements management, verification and validation definition and execution, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.
• Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

DESIRED:

• Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, and design software and tools.
• Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.
• Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering software products.
• Experience in technical or team leadership roles.

WORK LOCATION:

• This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required.
• Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

• Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
• Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
